Amy Herring, Executive Director

AmyeditedAmy is a relationship-builder.  She seeks ways to expand inclusive community, increase healthy dialogue, and foster meaningful relationships. Her passion for working with teens and desire to be a straight advocate and ally for the LGBT community, led her to GIFT as a volunteer in 2011.  Amy’s interest in progressive Christian faith and theology, as well as interfaith relationships, drives her to seek stronger connections between the faith communities and LGBT communities of West Mi.

Amy was an educator and youth worker for 15 years prior to her hire in August 2013 as Community Partnerships Coordinator, and promotion to Executive Director in February 2014.  In this new role, Amy will seek to strengthen relationships with GIFT’s participants, volunteers and donors, as well as increase partnerships between GIFT and other local organizations, schools and businesses.

Amy received her Bachelors of English and Secondary Education at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, MI.
